Katsuki Yuuri had it all figured out. At the age of eleven, he knew exactly what he would wish for during Tanabata. Yuuko was beautiful and had stolen his heart, so he wrote upon his paper “I wish for my idol to fall in love with me.” But fate had other plans for Yuuri. When the kami goes on walkabout, she returns to find her shrine abandoned. So she scours up the only wish she can find, and soon has granted Yuuri his wish. It was simple too, as his idol’s heart was already swayed. All it would need is one little extra push.

There is nothing worse than being the only person in the room who can’t speak the language, and for Victor, this was never more clear than during Yuuri’s press conference. Whatever it was that Yuuri said made everyone go silent, declaring Victor need to “ask Yuuri to explain it himself” as if the words “love “, “family”, and “Victor” had not been said in quick succession.

Yuuri probably would have been better off not knowing they existed. After all, St. Petersburg was already a huge adjustment, but… Yuuri would not be able to think about anything else until he tasted of the forbidden fruit. So now, he was on a mission. He would get his hands on Victor Nikiforov’s old skating videos, even if he has to bribe Yakov to pull it off.

Did Victor make a mistake, coming to Hasetsu? Yuuri ran away from his advances, seeming really to only want Victor to coach him. That wasn’t the plan, that wasn’t Victor’s plan. Then one night, Victor overhears Yuuri on the phone with Minako-sensei, and that conversation puts everything in perspective for him.

Victor kissed Yuuri. He kissed Yuuri in front of thousands of people. Because Yuuri petted him on the head and did a quad flip. Because Yuuri was the most amazing person Victor had ever met, and… he couldn’t take it anymore. Victor had once asked Yuuri, “what do you want me to be to you?” But he had never given Yuuri his own answer to that question. And it was finally time to be brave, and to ask for what he wants.

Victor knew better, honestly. He was an icon who really had to be careful how he approached other skaters, especially the cute ones. But… how does one turn down a night with the winner of a dance-off, who even held his own in the pole dance against Chris? Yuuri needed a place to crash. All Victor had done was offer one. But instead of the night he was expecting, Victor got something so much more profound.
